The Tennessee Turfgrass Association (TTA) has named Pringles Park and the Jackson Generals turf crew, led by Tyler Brewer as the recipients of the 2011 TTA Professional Field of the Year Award. Pringles Park was chosen as the winner among all professional fields in the state of Tennessee with a natural grass playing surface and at least two full seasons of play.
Ten days after word leaked out that the Mariners and Yankees were swapping premier young talents Jesus Montero and Michael Pineda, the teams on Monday finalized what Seattle general manager Jack Zduriencik called "an old-fashion baseball trade."
The Jackson Generals announced at a January 17th press conference at Pringles Park that Huntingdon, TN native, Jason Compton, has been named the club's new General Manager. Compton has been promoted from his Assistant General Manager role. Also, Mike Peasley has been hired as the new Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Generals.
In 2008, Danny Hultzen was selected in the 10th round of the MLB Draft by Arizona. Though many would jump at the chance to join a Major League franchise, Hultzen didn't. Instead, he chose to attend the University of Virginia, where he turned himself into one of the best pitchers -- and overall athletes -- in college baseball.
Jim Pankovits returns for his second season to manage the Generals. The rest of his staff will include pitching coach Lance Painter, coach Cory Snyder, athletic trainer Eduardo Tamaz and performance coach Rob Fumagalli.
